The aim of this work package is to actively engage with the standardisation committees ISO/TC 229, CEN/TC 352, ISO/TC 24/SC 4 and ISO/TC 276, along with the users of the emerging standards to ensure that the project’s outputs align with their needs (Obj. 5). Close engagement with pre-standardisation bodies (VAMAS TWA 34) is also envisaged.
The provision of the validated sample preparation protocols, measurement methods, and reports discussing the results of project’s internal and VAMAS ILCs from WP2 and WP3 on particle number concentration, particle density and RI, is addressing the need to revise relevant existing documentary standards (such as ISO 22412 on DLS, ISO 21362 on FFF, ISO 13318 series and ISO 18747 series on particle density), contribute to documents in development (ISO/PWI 21551 and ISO/PWI 16921-3) and initiate new documentary standards on: particle RI, particle density and on sample preparation for absolute particle number concentration for electron microscopy, at the earliest opportunity. A unique strategic roadmap for generating traceability and standardisation of particle RI and density measurements is proposed in this WP as D8 (Obj. 4). It will include key project’s outputs relevant to particle RI and density and the perspectives for the next years as well as guidance and recommendations for incorporation of this information into future documentary standards.
Further, activities targeted to transfer the results of the project into CCQM working groups with the aim to initiate key comparison and expand CMCs registered in KCDB are planned, as well as activities aiming to translate the project’s results on RTM development into future candidate RMs.
All communities potentially benefiting from the project’s outputs including developed protocols, measurement methods, algorithms and RTMs will be involved early through at least one E-learning module, resulting from three virtual workshops and technical webinar streamed online, one on-site practical demonstration on sample preparation for microscopy organised for industrial end users and other interested stakeholders and two targeted face-to-face workshops for industrial stakeholders and the public sector.
Target groups include: industry (healthcare and personal care, energy and semiconductor, advanced material manufacturers and instrument and software manufacturers), RM producers (JRC), meteorology institutes and networks, regulatory agencies and policy makers (EFSA, UKs FSA, FDA, ECHA and OECD), accredited analytical laboratories and clinical testing laboratories, scientific community including academics, researchers, other projects and consultancy and European associations, platforms and networks (ETPN, AMI2030, NIA).
